Tiger Hill sunrise without the queue

Tiger Hill rewards an early alarm and punishes a late one. The car leaves in the dark, the viewpoint fills up fast, and the mountain either shows up or it doesn't.

What time to actually leave

Sunrise time shifts through the year, so the pickup time does too. In peak winter we leave Darjeeling around 4am; in the shorter nights of April, closer to 4:45am. Your driver will confirm the exact time the evening before based on that day's sunrise.

Where the car parks

Private vehicles stop short of the top viewing tower; the last stretch is a short walk or a shared jeep hop, depending on the morning's traffic. Your driver knows the current arrangement and will walk you to it.

When to skip it

Clear mornings are most likely October to December and again in March-April. Monsoon season sunrises are usually cloud, not Kanchenjunga, and we will say so honestly rather than send you up for nothing.
